LA Phil Concertmaster Martin Chalifour, Mak Grgic, and Mateusz Kowaslski Perform February 23 in Los Angeles

U.S. Classic Guitar President William Jenks is thrilled to invite you to the second concert of the Los Angeles International Guitar Series on Sunday, February 23 at 8:00 PM at the First Congregational Church of Los Angeles Shatto Chapel presented by U.S. Classic Guitar featuring an exciting violin and guitar duo performance for the first half of the concert with violinist Martin Chalifour (LA Phil's concertmaster since 1995) playing on a historic Stradivarius violin built in 1711 which was once owned by composer George Frederick Handel and more recently by violinist-composer Fritz Kreisler. He will be playing duos with famed LA based Slovenian guitarist Mak Grgic who is touted as a “gifted young guitarist” by the New York Times, and “a guitarist to keep an eye on” by the Washington Post. Their exciting program will include works by Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky, Bartok, Piazzolla, and more.
The second half of the concert will feature a solo performance by the young classical guitar virtuoso of Poland, Mateusz Kowalski, who is the first prize winner of the prestigious 2019 EuroStrings competition. His diverse program will include works by Tárrega, Schubert, Bach, Barrios, Guilliani and more who Classical Guitar Magazine said, "Young Mr. Kowalski was spectacular, `{`...`}` truly breathtaking!"
The concert will take place at the gorgeous and inspirational historic First Congregational Church of Los Angeles Shatto Chapel featuring outstanding acoustics and concert ambience. Don't miss this incredible show!
